Recently there was an update of python (2.5.2 to 2.6)
Found that some packages (rdiff-backup is the example) requires libpython2.5.so.1.0 that doesnot exists anymore. Simple rebuild with makepkg from PKGBUILD helps.
Still I wonder is there a way to leave libpython2.5.so.1.0 (and maybe other 2.5 libraries)
And should I post any bug report on the packages that require simple rebuild for 2.6 or the work is in progress and I will just disturb the developers.

That works. Wait until you mirror syncs fully....
The community packages are in the process of being rebuilt. File a bug report if you find something that has been missed.

Python update to 2.6 is a small disaster. Some packages stay in 2.5 site-packages, some don't I have some eggs, or hand compiled libs and presence of *so files in both site-packages caused those modules to segfault. Gentoo has "python-updater" script, and doesn't just upgrade a package if all dependent packages aren't ready for it (case where multiple versions handling is handy).

That really does not matter. The ones that stayed did not need rebuilt and they will move eventually.

Did you filew a bug report?

Python 2.6 broke my superkaramba.
I use gentoo for years on my laptop and this type of issue doesn't happen.

Have you filed a bug report? We can't fix what we are not told about.

Not here, it's a kdemod package.

So did you complain when a gentoo update broke a third party package?
