Hi everybody!
My laptop is HP 6715S with RS690 chipset,1.5G memory.I have to spend about 4 minutes to fully boot up into KDE by use startx.
Can some one help what could be the reason? Is there any way to improve sata performance under Arch?

What chipset does your machine use?

I'd not trust hdparm with SATA drives. As noted in the man page, its' primarily for use with (E)IDE drives. Try using sdparm.
