JFS and power outage

in case of a forced shutdown, JFS partition mount either as read-only, or it can't even start HAL... i could fix the problem by booting some livecd and running fsck from there, but is there any easier way?

You should never fix a mounted partition, though it is possible but just insane. Using a Live-CD is a far proper approach.

Re: JFS and power outage

I second that, live cd is the way to go.

But, if it is your /home partition you need to fsck, don't go into X but log in on the console directly as root (don't log in as your normal user and su to root as it won't work). Now you can unmount /home and fsck away.
