Sound problem in applications using non-Phonon API

Every application like mplayer, audacious, mpd or flash in opera cannot play sound... But in juk, dragon player, amarok2 everything is OK. hmm

mplayer -ao alsa foo.bar  (replace foo.bar with a media file with sound) and see what it says about the sound.

Just a guess but quite a few people are having problems with snd_pcsp module taking over their sound applications so, if you haven't already, try adding !snd_pcsp to your MODULES=(!snd_pcsp) in /etc/rc.conf.
