KDEmod4.1 compiz-fusion windows and console problem

Hello! I'm using kdemod 4.1 with compiz fusion and I enjoy it! But when for example I try to use the console the console's screen won't refresh correctly and I won't be able to see e.g. the output of a command.It is messed up!To see it correctly I have to minimize and then maximize again the window.Same problem when I write something at a file rename window for example...Finally the system tray icons usually get some strange colors around them that stay there for too long...All that happens only when compiz-fusion is enabled.Can you please help me?

Kde4 has built in kwin for compiz like effects. Heard it is more stable that compiz, maybe its worth a try

I tried it but the problem is that when I installed compiz via the instructions from wiki for arch linux the built-in desktop effects for kwin in KDEmod stopped working...I tick the Enable Effects check box, press apply, accept configuration, nothing happens...Any ideas?

You can either have kwin or compiz. Both are window managers, so they cant work together.

Yes but when kwin is enabled the Desktop effects won't start.It worked before I installed compiz-fusion using the arch wiki instructions.

Installed gamin and removed fam and same problem...Help me please...at least tel me how to re enable the kwin desktop effects.

Select KWin as window manager from system settings/session manager maybe?

No that didn't work either...The kwin desktop effects stopped working after I installed compiz fusion I think.

Ive never used compiz with kde4 so i dont know how it works, but make sure you are starting a kde default session from kdm and not something like compiz/kde, also try deleting your ~/.kde4 folder, back it up first if theres anything you want to keep and restart.

I noticed some problems with compiz and kde4.1 here too. On the other hand, on my Ati Radeon X600 the KWIN compositing performance is extremely poor compared to compiz-fusion. If I start my KDE session with compiz as the WM I notice all kinds of weird crashes and freezes. Therefore, I let the session start with KWIN, then I start compiz-fusion and then I restart plasma.

In this procedure, compiz works great, although I still don't like it that I cannot start it without initializing KWIN first!
