I am trying to currently run battlefield1942 under wine, but I keep onto running into this error message :
ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:1439:(_snd_pcm_direct_get_slave_ipc_offset) Unknown slave PCM hda_intel
ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:1439:(_snd_pcm_direct_get_slave_ipc_offset) Unknown slave PCM hda_intel
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on AK5370 , disabling mixer

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1008:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on AK5370 , disabling mixer
Not really sure why it keeps on coming up with the problem other than for some reason my USB mic is becoming the default audio device. I am not quiet sure how to fix it, any advice over the matter?
Thanks,
Ratty

wine doesn't recognize that mic properly, i needed some asound rc and regedit mods to get it working.. maybe that site helps

Well, I dont need it working is the funny thing. Just trying to run Battlefield 1942. I have it working with skype under linux atm, and dont really need it for anything else atm. FRor some reason it keeps on spitting that error each time.

Does it stop you from loading and playing the game? I get similar errors every time I start anything wine related. The exact same messages come up when I have a MIDI to USB device plugged in on one machine and for some reason again on another because wine confuses my internal modem as a sound card. I ignore it and everything still works fine so it might not be something to worry about.
Quite honestly, their probably just a result of a hack in there alsa code. They probably don't properly differentiate sound devices and just assume that everything detected as sound related is a sound card. So wine gets a little confused when things don't, say, support mixing.
If its preventing you from playing the game, I don't think this is the show stopper.

this is definitly not the show stopper, without the sound configs every game runs propperly, never had any issues with not configuring it, tough gettint that error. that doesn't influence game errors i guess.

Its probably still something to report to the winedevs, but I have a hunch they're well aware of the problem.

Sorry for the late reply, but it does stop the game from loading up at all... Maybe unplugging the USB device will help it.... Will check that out soon. Thanks for the info.
