Re: Alternative download URL in PKGBUILD

You can edit the PKGBUILD anytime or grab the source file yourself.

Re: Alternative download URL in PKGBUILD

Yeah, if it's a PKGBUILD you're maintaining (or maintaining a local version of), then just list both source=(...) lines and comment one of them out. If it's just a one-time need, then edit the PKGBUILD or download the source file manually to the $startdir.

Re: Alternative download URL in PKGBUILD

Thank you for these work arounds, but why not add the possibility to have multiple URLs like in gentoo ?

Re: Alternative download URL in PKGBUILD

You could probably skip downloading the source before running the install function then check different URLs in that until it gets what it needs. I suspect that would meet with some disapproval though, but I think it would work.

Re: Alternative download URL in PKGBUILD

have you tried putting both urls in the source?
pacman uses caching, so it's not gonna download the same file twice

Re: Alternative download URL in PKGBUILD

I've added a line to change the download URL in a few of my PKGBUILDs in case the user encounters DNS resolver errors (which a few have reported for the new site). Here's powerpill's PKGBUILD  for reference.
