Errors upgrading to new Gaim pkg

I just ran pacman -Syu and tried to upgrade the packages it listed but when it checks for file conflicts i get this error

error: the following file conflicts were found:
  /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi/Gaim.pm: exists in filesystem
  /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi/auto/Gaim/.packlist: exists in filesystem
  /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi/auto/Gaim/Gaim.bs: exists in filesystem
  /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi/auto/Gaim/Gaim.so: exists in filesystem
  /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi/auto/Gaim/autosplit.ix: exists in filesystem


errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Is it ok for me to force the upgrade?

I forced the upgrade and so far everything runs ok...
though I did do it only 8 hours ago...

I'm already aware of the error and am formulating a solution in my head.

Until then, forcing the upgrade will work fine.

Well, I was the one who wrote the code to handle the case initially, I told farphel about the problem and my (maybe) solution, and you'd better pray that I don't get hit by a car.

Though, I plan on living forever, so far I'm doing a pretty good job...

Good job? You consider the infitismally small fraction of forever that you have managed to live so far a good job?

But I am praying you don't get hit by a car. My sister is moving out there soon, so the chances of anybody in Victoria getting in an accident will sky rocket...

I had the same prob upgrading Imagemagick.

Forced it for now...
