dGesklets don't start anymore on my gf's i686 machine (no testing packages). starting it from cmdline shows something like:
Could not import tiling module!...
Starting gdesklets-daemon...
Connecting to daemon [ ### ]
then it fails with a timeout. I couldn't fix it recompiling the 0.36 or with bumping to new 0.36.1. somebody else having this problem?
I guess it's python/pygtk related. Afaik gentoo is the only one out there also shipping python2.6 at the moment. so far I couldn't find a solution.

I'm experiencing the same problem since my last system update.
A look at the gdesklets%3A0.0.log backs up AndyRTRs guess:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/gdesklets/display/DisplayTarget.py", line 418, in f
_("The <tt>relative-to</tt> property "
UserError
I've also noted that my gnome splash screen doesn't appear anymore. However, I don't know if the splash screen also depends on python and whether there is a connection between the two problems.

Can also say it doesn't work here. Starting gDesklets from the menu, just turns up nothin'. Hope it's getting fixed.

I hacked a fix which gets gdesklets working... there was some weird module importing override code that I just got rid of. Try out gdesklets-0.36.1-1.
