I have a pop and imap account set-up in evolution, and following an update a week or so ago, I can't empty the trash in either account from evolution. Evolution works fine, but whenever I try to empty the trash or expunge, it crashes and I get a bug buddy report. The reports are pretty random and vary widely, but are usually related to
camel-imap-provider: Unable to load summary no such table: trash
.
I tried setting up an account in my root account, and I was able to empty the trash. So I figured the problem is coming from the email folder, so I tried to delete files in .evolution of my account (as some google searching suggested). This did not help. I tried then deleting the .evolution folder and starting from scratch, but the settings for evolution are still there (for my accounts) and I still can't empty the trash. I'm not really sure what to do from here, does anyone know where else evolution stores mail settings?

No one knows where evolution stores settings beside .evolution? Has anyone had a similar issue following the recent evolution update?

It stores stuff in ~/.gnome2 too afaik, and there's a third directory too.

I had a hunch it was stored there, but ~/.gnome2 doesn't have any files related to evolution or mail.

Sorry, I'm not on any of my Linux boxes atm, I'm at work (meaning on XP). I think instead of .gnome2 it's .gnome{,2}_private or sth and definitely .gconf{,d}/

The settings are stored in .gconf, but I had to go through the gconf editor to unset the appropriate key in /apps/evolution/mail.
Upon doing that, I could start my accounts from scratch. After reentering my pop account info, I was able to delete messages created through the pop account. After reentering my imap info, I still can't delete my imap trash folder. After evolution crashed once because it could not empty the imap trash, I couldn't empty the pop trash either.
I think the problem is related to either an evolution bug in this release, or perhaps something with my imap email provider (which I highly doubt).

Hi sam,
I can confirm this evolution bug: I'm unable to empty the trash (multiple IMAP accounts, different providers).
All I can do is expunge the inbox folder (ctrl + e), so evolution deletes the messages shown in the virtual trash folder.
So I think it has something to do with the handling of virtual folders.

Bug fixed in 2.24.2-1

I was about to post the same thing. For those struggling with this problem in evolution 2.24.1, upgrade to 2.24.2.

Now it works.
