The title says it all. Version is 3.0.0-3.
It doesn't matter the file origins from Excel, is old .ods or OO-3.0 .ods. The only pattern I could see is that files without embedded external graphics work well (regardless WMF, JPG, PNG); other crash after loading. I deleted my .openoffice folder without success.
Anybody experienced anything similar? Any idea what to do?
Thanks in advance!

Do you see anything interesting in the output if you start it from the command line?

Unfortunately nothing on the terminal.

Please check for known upstream issues http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi and maybe confirm this using another distro (e.g. Ubuntu LiveCD).

This time I got some feedback from the terminal:
pure virtual method called
terminate called without an active exception
/usr/bin/soffice: line 152: 6320 Speicherzugriffsfehler "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"
("Speicherzugriffsfehler" means "memory access error")
The weird thing is, I have lots of other computer working fine with the same files and similar installation (Arch64, Gnome...). Is it possible to be related to any dependending software?
I opened one spreadsheet document with a company logo on another computer and saved. Then opened the same file on my computer and it crashed. Then again I opend this file, removed all graphics and saved it. Now it also opens on my computer, but as soon as I try to import a graphic OpenOffice crashes again. So I believe the trigger is known.
So far I couldn't find any similar report at OpenOffice.org

Meanwhile I removed Openoffice, after removal erase the related folder in the home directory and re-installed the application. Still Openoffice-calc crashes as soon as the file carries any imported graphic or when attemting importing any graphic. Writer works with graphics.
I replaced jre with openjdk6 without success - anyway I didn't expect a relation to jre.
Funny thing is that it works on other similar computer and I have no idea what to do now. Is there any dependency interacting with the import process? Neither Google nor the Openoffice project page delivered any helpful information.
It worked before so I expect this problem to be related to a recent upgrade.

As it seems nobody is experiencing anything similar I tried simply the use of KDE instead of Gnome and OpenOffice ist stable!!! Going back to Gnome I have the same crash problem again. Maybe this helps to come closer to the cause. Anyway other Gnome-Computer does not show this problem.

LXDE work also well with OO. What's the problem with Gnome???

I have the same problem using Gnome.
Edit: When using XFCE, everything works fine. I guess I'm ditching Gnome: Gstreamer doesn't work and now that.
