An issue the new kernel fixed.

I just noticed this after updating to the new kernel today...  My laptop's hard drive is running much cooler all of the sudden. It was running about 39 C ~ 42 C and now it is staying at a nice cool 35 C.

It may not look like a major jump, but that's about a 104 F to 95 F drop just from a kernel upgrade. I checked my sda temp with smart monitor right before the upgrade because I am having issues with my hard drive and I need to keep a close eye on it. I upgraded and restarted, and the same temp grep showed a 5 degree C drop just ten minutes later.

I wonder if the updated kernel just works better with my Dell BIOS Rev A09 that I just updated to last week.

Added bonus is that so far I have not had a single file system lock up after the update on jfs. That was becoming a major issue over the course of the last week.

I keep getting distracted from my webserver project...

huh? oooh...  shiny!
