missing fstab and lilo.conf

Hello,

I browesed around in my Arch today - it's been runing for months now without a glitch and I noticed something a bit odd...

I don't have /etc/fstab and /etc/lilo.conf...

This I find odd becaus It does mount my files the way I want them and I still have my boot options the way I want them...

I did locat fstab and found a file names /etc/fstab~
and also found these :
/etc/fstab.pacnew
/etc/lilo.conf.pacnew

which look like very basic configurations and not exactly what I have on my comp...

So, so far everything is running, but it does kind of disturbs me...

So, anyone knows where my files might have gone? could one of the "pacma -Syu" made them go away or something...

I would appreciate any insight...

Re: missing fstab and lilo.conf

I can't imagine stuff loading without fstab, but maybe there's something I don't know.

Lilo.conf is not as imperative for a system to run. First, if you use grub, you'll never need a lilo.conf. Second, when you run 'lilo' it copies the data from lilo.conf to the boot partition, so the conf file isn't needed until next time you run lilo.

Re: missing fstab and lilo.conf

well...errr... as it seems a false alarm...
as it seems only root can actually locate these files and not a normal user...

don't know why is that but I'm calmer now :-)

false alarm, thread can be closed... sorry to bother :-)
