Unable to modify any configuration in gnome

Hello, I've just re-installed Gnome but almost all the system configurations (such as System/Administration/Services,  Network preferences etc. ) are grayed out and can't enable/disable any of them. Logging in as root they are still disabled. How can i solve this? Thanks in advance.

Yes I have the same problem at the moment gnome is going through lots of problems at the moment.
