sys.path after 2.5 -> 2.6

In python2.6, my sys.path has '/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages' near the beginning of the list.  I've noticed the same from others who have printed sys.path for unrelated 2.6 problems.  Shouldn't this either be removed, or at least placed after the various 2.6-related paths?

Re: sys.path after 2.5 -> 2.6

The old 2.5 path was left there on purpose so the python packages that didn't need to be rebuilt for 2.6 would still work. I guess that sometime in the future  it will be eventually be removed.

That is correct.  It saves rebuilding many, many packages in extra.  I am currently looking into how to move it to the end of the path as it does seem to cause some problems...
