I'm running two boxes, one with KDEmod3 (this one), another with KDEmod4; the dependency error is the same. I seek advice, as I'm not sure whether the problem is my fault or a packager's.

You be not alone with it: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12213

Yep, same problem here.

Meanwhile the process of syncing my installation stops dead, even the apps which have nothing to do with the dependency in question. Is there a reason behind such pacman behavior, or is it just "fatal error" termination without trying to salvage whatever remains salvageable?

You can use "--ignore qscintilla" to continue your upgrade.

You can use "--ignore qscintilla" to continue your upgrade.
Unless I'm missing something very basic (entirely possible - I'm a newbie), this doesn't work.
[john@Humpty ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu --ignore qscintilla

:: python-qscintilla: requires qscintilla>=2.3.2I'd be really grateful if anybody can suggest a fix or workaround, as it looks like Arch is going to stay frozen in time (upgrade wise) until I can fix this.

Oops... use "--ignore python-qscintilla"

Oops here too! I'm a newbie, but I think I *should* have spotted that!
Thanks - everything else is updating again now - much appreciated.

Got the same problem....two years later.
In contrast to whitefort, I cannot solve the problem with the "--ignore" command ![]()
[root@Terra ich]# pacman -Syu --ignore python-qscintilla
