I'm running two boxes, one with KDEmod3 (this one), another with KDEmod4; the dependency error is the same. I seek advice, as I'm not sure whether the problem is my fault or a packager's.

Re: qscintilla 2.3.2 dependency

Meanwhile the process of syncing my installation stops dead, even the apps which have nothing to do with the dependency in question. Is there a reason behind such pacman behavior, or is it just "fatal error" termination without trying to salvage whatever remains salvageable?

You can use "--ignore qscintilla" to continue your upgrade.

Unless I'm missing something very basic (entirely possible - I'm a newbie), this doesn't work.

[john@Humpty ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu --ignore qscintilla
:: Synchronising package databases...
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 community is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
resolving dependencies...
error: cannot resolve "qscintilla>=2.3.2", a dependency of "python-qscintilla"
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: python-qscintilla: requires qscintilla>=2.3.2

I'd be really grateful if anybody can suggest a fix or workaround, as it looks like Arch is going to stay frozen in time (upgrade wise) until I can fix this.

Oops here too!  I'm a newbie, but I think I *should* have spotted that!

Thanks - everything else is updating again now - much appreciated.

Re: qscintilla 2.3.2 dependency

Got the same problem....two years later.
In contrast to whitefort, I cannot solve the problem with the "--ignore" command sad

[root@Terra ich]# pacman -Syu --ignore python-qscintilla
:: Synchronisiere Paketdatenbanken...
core ist aktuell
extra ist aktuell
community ist aktuell
:: Starte komplette Systemaktualisierung...
:: python-qscintilla: benötigt qscintilla=2.4.3
