[SOLVED] When xorg-server 1.5.3?

Hi,

Does someone know when we can expect xorg-server 1.5.3 in stable repo? Is there way to install only xorg-server and its dependencies from testing and "turn" off testing?

Go into /etc/pacman.conf and enable the testing repo.  Remember that it must be the first repo in the file.  Then Pacman -Sy xorg-server (I believe you could also do pacman -S testing/xorg-server to be specific).  Finally go back into /etc/pacman.conf and comment out the testing repo again.

This may break X initially. The 'rgb' path lines needs to be removed from xorg.conf. And, if your mouse and keyboard don't work afterward, you can try and install xf86-input-evdev from testing. There's another workaround for that here in the forums somewhere. I can't remember what it is though.

I followed Flowheat suggestions, installed xf86-input-evdev and used workaround:

Everything works fine! Thanks a lot smile

Re: [SOLVED] When xorg-server 1.5.3?

OK, so it is possible to run xorg-server 1.5.3 from testing or build it from ABS, but why is it still in testing, though it is a stable release? Fedora 9 already came with a beta/rc of xorg-server 1.5.x, which is very stupid imho. Fedora 10 and Ubuntu 8.10 however have already switched to the new 1.5.x stable releases. OpenSuSe's 11.1-beta5 also comes with 1.5.x, so why not my beloved Archlinux?

Best line in a wiki (ever!):

"I don't want this crap, how do I turn it off?"
