I got a new motherboard (The Asus P5QL Pro). When I try to boot ArchLinux core I get some bug (I'll get it if anyone wants it), so I want to boot Ubuntu 8.10 (which supports my hardware) and install Arch through that. Would there be any problems with that and how would I mount the ISO? Would I mount it as any other block device?
I figured out how to mount ISOs. But would using the Arch setup script still work through Ubuntu? I'd chroot so that paths were correct.

well, you can install arch from an existing ubuntu installation. check the wiki for instructions.
the question is, why doesn't the live-cd boot?
will it work with up-to-date packages?
to be sure you should post the exact message.

I'll go get the error message.
I get the output "Booting Kernel", then at the bottom of the screen it says "BUG: Int 14: CR2 ffd41000". But that's with the 32 bit CD, I may not get this with the 64 Bit CD.
The 64 bit CD works just fine.

That sure is strange...

Interesting, could you do me a favor and write down as much about the error as you can find out and file a bug about it? I'd really like to see our installer work on the broadest variety of hardware we can easily accomadate, so I'm interested in finding out more about the exceptions.
Thanks!
The suggestion box only accepts patches.

That's all the information I was given.
I submitted a bug report: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12255
