Just like to say hello. I've used linux before but always the pretty GUI ones. I thought I'd try Arch as my first one to get my hands dirty in the terminal/shell.
I'd just like to say, great job with the wiki walkthroughs, it's nice to have the feeling of your "hand being held" as you go through the somewhat daunting task of installing.
Anyways I followed http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide, using the FTP iso install, on a Local Virtual Box machine. I got all the way to Step 3.1.3, I issued the reboot command, and then I always get this error after GRUB, whether I select the first or second option.
Sorry if this issue is asked all the time, I googled, searched the wiki and forum, even tried to look at stickies, and nothing popped out at me.
If this error is due to me screwing up something in the setup process, then I guess there's no harm in starting over (the great thing about virtual box).
Thanks for any help in advance.

Are you trying to install Arch32 or Arch64? I have not much experience with virtualbox but if I look at http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/VBox_vs_Others , 64-bit guest is not yet there (but planned).
All design goals must be phrased in such a way that it is hard to use them as slogans to justify stupidity.

its the i686 FTP .iso, I'm pretty sure it's 32 bit.

You should use VirtualBox minimum at Version 2.0.2 on your host system. Versions of Virualbox before these have a bug releated to kernel 2.6.26. This is fixed in current virtualbox versions.
See: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/11141
and http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/1875

Ahh, I am using VirtualBox 1.6.4
Thanks, I'll give that a try.
