Hi,
I just installed Arch and I can't get X to work.
X starts up fine, draws the image and after that it completely freezes my computer and i have to restart it.
I thought it was the intel driver, but I just tried vesa and same results.
I also thought it could be kdm, so I tried fluxbox... same results.
The last lines of my Xorg log are here: http://pastebin.com/m2f7208e9
And my video is:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
I tried using the xf86-video-intel drivers (and vesa) with no luck.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
UPDATE: I Just found out about Xorg hotplugging.... http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … otplugging. It's fixed now. Thanks anyway.

Update: I think it is not freezing anymore after tweaking my xorg.conf a bit , however my mouse and keyboard are not working/responding.
I did install the xf86-input-mouse xf86-input-keyboard packages.

I would make another xorg.conf and use the keyboard/mouse settings from it in your current xorg.conf.

how did you tweak your xorg.conf ?
did you figure out what was exactly the problem?

This thread is pretty old. somekool, I'm guessing that you're looking for a solution to a problem and that's how you found this thread. If that's the case and it's the closest match to your problem, please open a new thread about your issue.
