Another pacman -Syu issue

Trying to update my systems today by issuing:

sudo pacman -Syu

and I get this error:

(35/35) checking for file conflicts [##########################] 100%
error: could not prepare transaction
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
gpgme: /usr/share/info/dir exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Can I just remove the  "/usr/share/info/dir" like we did for the klibc error located over here?:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=58184

[EDIT]
I just renamed the file for now and updates installed just fine.  I hope this was the right thing to do!

Re: Another pacman -Syu issue

Bug was already submitted here: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12296?st … &project=1.
It's the gpgme package that's broken.  As a workaround you can exclude gpgme from the list and you'll be able to upgrade your system for now.

Re: Another pacman -Syu issue

I forced it and all seems to work without problems.  Did I goober by doing so?

Will installing the fixed package clear up anything that forcing might have messed up?

Re: Another pacman -Syu issue

It would have overwritten your info page table of contents.  If you don't browse info pages or if you just call each page manually (e.g. info command) then you do not need to worry...

BTW - never force and install unless you understand what you are overwriting.  And even then, use -f for an individual package and not a whole upgrade.

Re: Another pacman -Syu issue

I got the same error when I try to do an upgrade. Its the gpgme which seems to be broken again.:|

error: could not prepare transaction
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
gpgme: /usr/share/info/dir exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Re: Another pacman -Syu issue

Jayanath, check /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and make sure you are using an up to date mirror (the ftp.archlinux.org one seemed to work for me though I think it's the throttled one; the easynews mirror is slightly out of date) or add the package to your ignore list until your mirror updates accordingly. gpgme 1.1.7-2 is the current fixed version, not 1.1.7-1 which is on most mirrors I see at the moment. If the mirror you're using is for sure up to date, forgive and ignore this comment.

Re: Another pacman -Syu issue

Thanks a lot FrozenFox !!
You are correct and I found few other outdated packages including wicd in the easynews mirror. [I was using easynews mirror till today].
So I changed the mirror and did the update again and it went through with no issues.

Thanks again for your help.
