Self-explanatory title. I just opened up mplayer's man page to look at the shortcuts and noticed the dizzying number of options it has.

VLC doesn't have a man page, but
vlc -H
is long enough that I can't scroll all the way back to the beginning.

You people should just paste the output of wc -l.
bash is 4892.
mplayer is 8086.

Damn, I also thought of mplayer ... know that it's long, because some time ago I had to search for something and just thought "will this man ever end?!"

Mmm, yes you're right string, gcc has a whopper of a man page. I don't have wireshark though, so I can't comment on how big its man page is.

I don't use wireshark (still stuck in "tcpdump land") so I've not seen its manpage. Longest man page I've ever seen (thread title), as of yet: gcc's

MPlayer. It only kind of counts though, I think, because it's a man page for mencoder as well.

fvwm has a pretty huge man page. 8707 lines.

It isn't the longest by line count, but the CVS manpage is the worst one I have ever seen when it comes to usability because of its length. Try finding things in it using search (which for gcc works surprisingly well). The cvs manpage makes it painful.

I believe the site used to boast that fvwm had the second longest man page in existence, but I can't find the quote (nor remember what was the longest).

zshall
Although this is a "meta man page", so I do not know if it can enter the "competition"
They also have the (in)famous quote
Because zsh contains many features, the zsh manual has been split into a number of sections.

Is each word on it's own line!?
I thought zshall was bad....
Stop looking at my signature. It betrays your nature.

Yeah, but a lot of those are created because of the huge amount of unneeded line breaks in the man page.

The question is what the longest man page is that you (I) have seen.
Not: which manpage do you think is the biggest.
(that said, I've actually opened man mplayer a few times, didn't know it was that big )

+1 Mplayer.
Much as I respect programs like mplayer and bash, lengthy manpages are a shame.

You think so? I'd rather have complete docs.
