No sound in x86_64 intel(solved snd-usb-audio)

Absolutely no sound....

Am I missing a package.  Video plays in mplayer but no sound.  Same in dragon. in conf

Did you install alsa-lib and alsa-utils?

I see alsa-utils in pacman -Q but no alsa-lib.

Will try that................

Verified install of both packages and trying out the system.........

Did you take a look at the wiki entry for ALSA?
Also consider the alternative.

Still fighting the problem altho have heard audio a few times.  Had audio but no video!

Using usb audio.

Don't know the name of the intel audio device for loading into modules of rc.conf.  Perhaps that is the problem.

Also don't have control of pcm setting in alsamixer, master is OK.

USB mixer uses  "front pcm".

Info in mobo manual says "realtek ALC662 codec"  EDIT

Try alsaconf as root to setup the new Audio device.

Problem solved with module snd-usb-audio in rc.conf.
