usb drive problem

I have problem with mp3 player - I can't mount it, mainly because it does not appear in /dev hmm When I plug it in I can see /dev/sdb , but no sdb1.
lsusb:

Bus 008 Device 002: ID 066f:8000 SigmaTel, Inc. SigmaTel MSCN USB Device [MP3 Player]
Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001

I tried to mount it on Ubuntu - same problem. It worked only on WinXP.

Re: usb drive problem

I had a very similar issue with auto-mounting the internal memory of my iRiver E100 MP4-player, which I described in this thread. The solution was very simple - reformat it to FAT filesystem under my Windows machine. I could also mount it manually on Linux and probably do that there, but I decided to do it another way.
Good luck!

Maybe there is a new turret, or some walls have moved. Or perhaps someone has temporarily removed the floor under your bed."

Re: usb drive problem

can you post the partition table for your mp3 player?
