Printing without CUPS
According to this page it looks as though foomatic can allow printing without a server like CUPS running. How (if I'm reading the page right) can I configure applications for this? And how would I configure foomatic?

It tells you how in a link on that page you linked. Cups is much easier is there some reason you would want to not use it?
