Hi all,
I am having some trouble running Maple 9.5 (my Uni's preferred choice of maple and so I have no choice) and wondered if anyone here had any experience that could help me...
I installed it from the cd successfully (eventually) using the following guide http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? … ight=maple (yeah I know it's Ubuntu but it seemed to work just fine). Now i can run the command line version of Maple (./maple) but when I try to run the GUI version (./xmaple) it exits with no error messages and no output. I am completely stumped and don't know where to go from here.
Any help would be very much apprecieated.

That looks like a much better way of trying to do what I was trying to do than trying to do what I was trying to do...

I installed Maple 12 a few days ago and put it into ~/.bin , which really works very well, I just had to set this as path and a few clicks later it was on my machine. Then just add this to my PATH via .bashrc and all commands work fine...
Did you have these error messages the guy had, who posted this tutorial in the ubuntu forums?

Yeah I did, and then a java stack trace that wasn't posted on that tutorial but was solved by using sh linuxInstallBlahdeblah -i console instead of sh linuxInstallBlahdeblah. I think the install is fine, because the command line version works fine from where it is.
That looks like a much better way of trying to do what I was trying to do than trying to do what I was trying to do...
