Automounting on gnome

Hi I'm a average Linux user, who decided it was time for an upgrade. So I got Arch, and after a couple of days of tinkering, I now have Gnome and the wireless working. The problem I face now is automount sad. I read the wiki on HAL and did that, made sure HAL is running, and checked the nautilus settings for the automount option. I have removed the cd dvd lines in /etc/fstab since I read somewhere that HAL may not work with these line. But I don't get any sort of mounting whatsoever, both external hard drives and cds, and I can't see any error messages of any sort to indicate any mounting has taken place. Manual mounting and autofs worked, but I would rather just use the HAL-nautilus interface. Can anyone help me out please.

*UPDATE* Was tinkering around with it, and I found that I needed an upgrade of compilers. Upgraded, and reinstalled HAL using ABS and it works now! Thanks if anyone was going to answer.
