KDE 4 problem after xorg up-->down grade

i have kde 3 and 4 installed
i updated xorg and keyboard and mouse stopped working
i downgraded the packages xorg-server and xf86-video-vesa to their previous versions and allmost everything is ok again . . . .

when i start kde 4 (from kdm or alt ctrl F4 startx) it begins to load and crashes as soon as the 2nd icon in the kde 4 splash screen begins to fade in

there highest point to which i can scroll in the console contains stuff (roughly) like 'kded - it probably crashed' and 'no reply from dbus' and then 2 screens of cascading failures with lots of other stuff involved

kde 3 and kdm 3 and 4 all work ok
