I am running Arch with KDEmod4. Obviously, KDEmod4 doesn't install any QT3 libraries because none of the programs need them. Well, I still need to use Kaffiene (because Dragon PLayer is too simplistic), K3B (not ported to QT4 yet), and Amarok (A2 hasn't hit the repos yet.) If I use these programs now, will the QT4 libraries be automatically uninstalled when they have all been upgraded to use QT4?

The qt3 libraries will not be automatically removed but you will be able to detect unneeded dependancies with "pacman -Qqtd" and then remove them.

for kaffeine, you may want to look at smplayer as a qt4 alternative (I was a diehard kaffeine fan in kde3, but I have to say I find smplayer a similar but superior alternative). For k3b and amarok in qt4, they are available from kdemod's playground. k3b I can't get working (I have problems with the qt3 version too though) but the svn version of amarok2 works very well.

Amarok 2 has just been released.

And there is reather regularly updated amarok2-svn package in kdemod-extragear repo ;-)

Thanks for the info guys. Thanks especially for suggesting smplayer. Exactly what I was looking for.

Smplayer / mplayer rules! I love it. And you can watch dvb just like kaffeine. If you have a correct channels.conf on .mplayer/ press ctrl+u and write dvb://nameofchannel With mencoder you can record tv also. I would like to see phonon/mplayer soon. I don't have any qt3 app on my system.
