Intel 82865G and xorg upgrade

Hi folks I have been thinking about upgrading xorg to 1.5 but I saw on this forum that some intel drivers were not working well after the upgrade. Has anybody with an intel 82865G VGA tried the new xorg?  Any advice or suggestions for the upgrade?

Re: Intel 82865G and xorg upgrade

Well, I have an "Intel Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL Integrated Graphics Controller" and I would say don't.  Conky has become unstable, dying at random times and gimp is a bit fouled up now too.  Other than that it's just peachy.

Re: Intel 82865G and xorg upgrade

I'm using a "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller" and I'm having no problems apart from a reduced framerate.  Backup your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and try to start X without a config file.

Thanks for the replies. I was not going to upgrade but after problems with openoffice causing X to crash I have done so. Everything seems to be working fine.

Don't really follow the intel performance discussion, but as far as I know, the performance will be better again with the 2.6.28 kernel and latest intel drivers.
