If it's that important, use office 2k7 through wine big_smile

Geez... I hope this interface doesn't start to spread across the software community.... I've even heard that ArcGIS 10 will feature this type of interface.. ehwww.

edit: more to the point -- Office 2k7 runs well on wine according to the WineHQ site. You could also try Crossover Office if you desire a commercially supported solution.

that interface is a pain, so I sure hope as well it doesn't catch on, but oh, well. People have their tastes.

It's utterly horrible and I hate it. So am not going to be using it anytime soon, even though I have two legit copies on my desk :S  Openoffice or office 2k3 are much better IMO.

Yeah, the new interface is certainly a pain. I'd rather not even use the software at all, but oh well..

Re: i want microsoft office 2007 interface !

Why would you want such a dreadful thing? It's a brain-dead interface, you can't find anything there, you loose more time finding whatever you want than doing anything useful. I really hope that kind of interface doesn't become popular, usefulness before shinny and pretty please.
If you want shinny, pretty and completely useless just stick with vista and office 2k7 otherwise accept that most if not all office suites for linux put functionality before shinny and pretty. I prefer a program that is not so pretty but works as intended rather than having a pretty one that keeps breaking but hey good luck finding a pretty one.

Re: i want microsoft office 2007 interface !

There are people out there, who find this interface intuitive, so why do you guys try to tell one of them to hate it the way you do??

My opinion:
I don't think that there will be an opensource writing program with exactly this interface, because I'm sure Microsoft has done everything needed to prevent it. So it will be best to install a Windows (XP or Vista) as dual boot or in a virtual machine OR install it with wine. Office 2007 should be supported, at least it appears as supported in crossover (closed source wine with graphical interface, was given for free some weeks ago, maybe you have your copy), so it should be possible to install it without too big issues.

Good luck!
