Re: Installing Arch Linux on ASUS EEE PC 1000 40G

iI'm a semi-newb with linux and a fairly huge newbie with archlinux....so heres my problem, don't know if the answer is obvious or not

when i make the 11-synaptic-options.fdi file that you suggest...I then restart my eee1000 and my touchpad doesn't work at all...Im not sure what the deal is so I just go in and delete the file and my touchpad works again(after reboot)....any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

i use stock kernel xfce4 and also i remember in the beginners guide it telling me something about hotbooting or something like that, that auto detects stuff but might make your touchpad stop responding? dunno if thats where my problem lies

anyways I would love your help because I'm totally loving learning this arch linux...it's teaching me tons about how linux works....unlike ubuntu which felt like a linux version of windows tongue.....which is pretty cool cause linux is free!

Sorry for the delay, is this still an issue?

Is the touchpad the only input not working, or does the keyboard do not function also? If so, you should make sure HAL is started before X.

yes the touchpad is the only input not working, as far as I can remember...I'll try it again later today when I get my laptop back.
