Why isn't the ABS repo included in the AUR?

Out of curiosity, why aren't the ABS PKGBUILD's included in the AUR?  The dev's are generally users too, so this wouldn't be illogical, and it is nice sometimes just to be able to access PKGBUILD's via web browser, rather than downloading them via ABS (although I'm a big fan of the ABS).  Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way?

repo PKGBUILDs are already available online via viewvc: http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/

Ah ... I didn't know about that, thanks @tdy!

I still think it would be nice to integrate Arch's repos with the AUR, if for no other reason, than because of the AUR page's search capabilities.  The fact the repos are already accessible via browser should make that easy, but I'll be content with whatever the devs decide.

At the moment the [community] backend is so different from [core] and [extra] that this would require a lot of work.

AUR is going to be rewritten, you can add feature requests for the new version here, I think.

Great!  Thanks @Runiq, and you too, @Allan, for your encouraging words smile

I especially like the prototype of AUR2 they already have up and running, it looks really nice!  I'll add my request and see if what happens.

Uh... What prototype? All I can see is a page with "It works!"... Course, I might as well be too dumb to get a joke when it stares me right in the face... smile

Awesome! It looks like aur2 is 100% bugfree, I can't find a single glitch.  It does lack some features though ;-)

I was being encouraging? That doesn't sound like me big_smile  Let me fix that!

Anyway, what exactly is wrong with this: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/

And there are several versions of AUR2 around and I'm not sure any of them are still being worked on...

Does yaourt not already do this?

That's what we like to call Feature Complete software.
