Problems mounting a MP4 which works in Windows

Hi everyone,

I have a MPX-701 that in the past I could mount on Arch (maybe I am talking about 1 year ago). I Windows it works perfectly, but now I can't mount it in arch because it simply doesn't recognise it. dmesg outputs many errors which are shown below.

Doing a fdisk -l doesn't show the driver, and lsusb doesn't detect the device after kernel errors, too. How can I solve this problem? I think that if in Windows works without drivers, in Linux should too, shouldn't it?

Thanks

Re: Problems mounting a MP4 which works in Windows

The problem seems to be related with the built-in sd card reader, its detecting a card with 2TB (or says it does). If you have a card inserted try without the card, if you don't have the card inserted try with a card, can't think of any other solution, expert help needed here.

i don't know if this'll help you at all, but i had very similar usb errors with my mp3 player/external drive.  drove me fricking nuts for days.  finally, it turned out my usb cable was bad.

in trying to diagnose the problem i read repeatedly that internal slot with long cable runs between the actual port and the connector on the mobo can pick up interference from other devices and cause these errors.

just a thought.

Re: Problems mounting a MP4 which works in Windows

I don't know why, I've solved the problem and now it can be mounted (probably by changing the usb connector). Mounted with few problems, but it can be mounted.

Thanks to all for your help smile

Greetings
