Disk-by-uuid without initrd

Hi, so ive built my kernel without initrd, but im unable to boot with disk-by-uuid for root. My understanding is that those symlinks arnt created until udev is run, which gets run during initrd or after root is mounted.

Is it possible to use uuids for root without initrd?

No, if you don't have an initrd then udev isn't run in early userspace so the UUID symlinks don't get created.  (link to similar thread)
