What's everybody using on the Eee PC? KDE, Gnome, or something else? Is KDE fast enough?

Ratpoison. Makes it convenient.

Yes, I would definitely put ratpoison + dmenu + ratmenu + dzen gadgets there.

Ratpoison or Stumpwm

If you're looking for something user-friendly , Check out LXDE .
I'm starting to like fluxbox though (No cryptic xml files to edit) .

I plan to use e17 when I get my netbook.

dwm, wmii... i mean, any tiling wm may do the trick in that display even compiz may fit, if you set it up to use dmenu and not using to much icons in the desktop

I just use a minimal xfce, no panels or icons or session management. All I start is xfdesktop and xfwm4.
My .xinitrc
sleep 3s && conky &
xfdesktop &
exec xfwm4
Its like having a minimal openbox desktop (which I used to use) but you get a menu that updates automatically, shadows and true transparency, its great.
Cheers,

E17. It has a e17-module (plugin) that will make your desktop appropriate for netbooks

No panels or icons or session management? What does that leave you with? Just a menu?
Hey wittfella, can you post me a screenshot? thanks

Hey nirvanix,
Yes everything can be done by the right-click menu. xfdesktop also handles the wallpaper and keyboard bindings etc. I added the very small dock called 'wbar' at the bottom in you want a lightweight app launcher.
At first the only thing I missed was having the time on a panel, but that is solved by doing it with conky at the top. It really is simplicity and once you get used to it, looking at a desktop with icons and panels is just way too cluttered

Hey Wittfella, that looks really good! I was using LXDE but maybe I'll switch.

I'm running KDE4 on it (900 Mhz). It works better than expected and is totally usefull.
