I have a problem. I've used archlinux for a while now, and didn't have any problems. That is, untill I tried opensuse 11.1. (It was allright, but not what I was looking for.) I had formated my drive with opensuse, so I just re-formated it when I installed arch.
Now, I can't get X to start no matter what I do. I have reinstalled X and arch several times, but with no luck. Everything installs ok untill I try to autoconfig X. Then I get an error that the xf86 intel doesn't support V_BUS or something, I'll take another look at it.
I have an X log file, ill upload it soon.

z.s.tar.gz,
first thing to try is without a xorg.conf file. Xorg changed lately and most of the time it does work
without a configuration file.
So just do a "mv xorg.conf xorg.xonf.BAK" and restart X.
After that and whatever the results, install "hwd" (pacman -S hwd) and generate a xorg.conf with:
hwd -x (generates a sample)
or
hwd -xa (generates and installs xorg.conf)
From your log it seems you are using an intel graphics card. No experience on that, but I see that there are at least
to packages for that: xf86-video-i740 and xf86-video-intel.
PLease check on that.

Ok. I tried X with no config file and it worked, but I had no keyboard or mouse input.
I'm still working with hwd.

Sorry, with no xorg.conf installed, you need to install:
pacman -S xf86-input-evdev
for KB and mouse to work.

I already have evdev, I reinstalled and nothing new happened.
However, I was able to get vesa to work. Is it an intel driver problem?

Could be. There are many reports about intel video drivers in the forum, but since I have a nvidia I am of no much help.
First you should know the exact model of your graphics card, the command line "lspci" should get that.
And the wiki also has some information:

Ok. I got a new desktop recently, and it has an onboard ati chipset. When I started X with a config file, I was able to get the standard X, but it didn't respond to input. I tried with no config, and everything went fine.
It seems there is something in a new version of X that needs to be added to enable input, at least in my case. I'll do more research and come back with anything I find.
