I'm so close to having Arch linux ppc installed, but 'X -config' fails. I've tried several different changes to xorg.conf, but nothing seems to work. I've attached the Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Here's the Xorg.0.log:

Sorry, thanks. Hoping someone has a working iBook xorg.conf.

You're in luck. I've been working on a friends iBook G3 over the last week and getting xorg to work was a real pain. I finally got it working by specifying the HorizSync & VertRefresh rates and setting the option "UseFBDev" under the Device section. Here's my xorg.conf, should work for you too.

I only wish I were that lucky. I copied your xorg.conf over and still got the same error message. At this point, I'm pretty sure that the problem is not related to my xorg.conf file. The file really should be working from all of the googling I've done. I think the problem is related to some missing package or bug or something. I'm really not sure.
Since, you've just configured an iBook. Do you have any info on what all you installed, maybe I just missed a package that I should have installed. I installed:
pacman -S
xorg (and the provided dependencies, i.e. xf86-input-mouse, xf86-input-keyboard, xf86-video-vesa, xorg-server etc.)
xf86-video-ati
xf86-video-r128
xf86-video-fbdev
various fonts, 100dpi, 75dpi
Can't remember anything else X related. Am I missing something obvious.
Thanks,
/Bob

I don't know. That all sounds exactly like what I installed but I did tinker with the kernel after the initial install. I'd post the config but I don't have the laptop with me anymore, that's gone home with it's owner who lives in another state
I do know that you can run/install the Ubuntu live cd if you have >384MB ram (8.04.1 LTS Hardy Heron), but xorg.conf has to be altered before the display will work. I did that prior to installing Arch to get an idea of what modules where loaded etc. I did note that these modules had to be loaded for the graphics to work:
drm
r128
agpgart
uninorth-agp
but your Xorg.0.log indicates these are loaded
By the way, it was a 12" iBook. If you have the 14" iBook, the HorizSync & VertRefresh rates might be different.
