I have a problem when compiz-fusion is loaded and running, it causes video that is streamed online to flicker. If i turn it off the problem instantly goes away, so i know its compiz-fusion causing the flickering. I use the gecko-mediaplayer to stream my online video...
I went ahead and tested with a downloaded video and have the same problem, playing from local machine, anyone ever hear of this problem or how to fix it possibly?
Wasn't sure if this should go in multimedia or desktop stuff, so i just put it here.
thanks

hmm...So i installed vlc-plugin to give it a try, and it does not have the same problem when compiz is running. So it seems to be something particular to compiz and gecko-mediaplayer.
Any insight to the problem would be great, but for now i guess i will just keep gecko-mediaplayer disabled and use vlc-plugin.

well, the problem is back, both streaming and local box, and both vlc and mplayer. Such a weird problem...guess i will just have to turn compiz off for viewing videos if there is no fix for this.

Try this:

Worked for me.
EDIT: Never mind. I forgot to turn Compiz back on. Oops.

Found it here:

Now I just have to get mplayerplug-in to work.

Got it!
If you're using mplayer-plugin to play video in Firefox, edit ~/.mplayer/config and insert "vo=x11"
Save and you're good to go.
