Why not apply for new xorg release test

I just like to see Arch's name on the list, and I hope the upcoming 0.7 will include the new 6.8.0 xorg release. Other than that, I think to do so will increase Arch's popularity(double-edge sword always). Detailed information please see:

it is just another type of xfree86 so why would having it increase arch's popularity? why is popularity important? does it make arch better?

the only way I can see xorg being "better" is it stops those "proprietry code is evil" nutbars from whining and bitching and going on and on. xorg is only slightly "more advanced" than xfree86.

since arch already uses xorg as their x-windows option in the current repo and xfree86 has been religated to extra and wiil be phased out altogether i would assume they have plans on carrying xorg on the next release of Arch.

running a test release as the main x-server is dumb though and i hope they don't bother. put a package out when the full stable release is ready and not before.

it does not need to be an org or a community - it can be any private person the tester - if anybody has time, feel free

I was actually going to send a message and volunteer a while ago, but my SMTP server was down. (ZOOM cable internet makes use of Windows Server 2003!)

Windows Server 2003: it is extremely stable (when turned off, it can not crash in any chance)

The upcoming release has quite many diffirent/good things , visit their homepage for new features. http://www.freedesktop.org/XOrg/XorgReleasePlan
The most including is three extension which wil make Linux desktop more speedy and eye-candy.
I don't apply because I don't think I totally understand whet the test page said, so I hope dev or power user or maitanier could apply for it. Yes, it needs quite a lot of time and some konwledge if meeting some problem.

i've seen cvs screenshots with what look like true (or truer) transparency. this may be written off by most as eye candy but gui's are there to make things easier and a main factor of that is normally making things look nice - so seems good to me.

release date for new stable version looks like 25th Aug - which is 6 days away - this release is pretty likely to make it into 0.7 i guess? how long do we reckon tho for the inevitable 1st set of bug fixes?

stable was pushed back due to problems - give it a week or two to fix all the platform dependent blocker bugs.

i checked the release status page on the x.org site and it seem pretty bad - lots of red boxes :? saw that it had been put back tho in another thread - not too far back tho you think?
