No keyboard or mouse input - X [solved]
I can't get input to work with X with or without a config file.
I have evdev installed but I don't know where to go from there.

I had a similar problem. I disabled hotplugging. See bellow how to.
To disable input hotplugging, add Option "AutoAddDevices" "False" to ServerFlags in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"

I had to disable hotplugging as well 
But, isn't there a better way? I would like to get hotplugging work.

lol I did not know that my notebook keyboard was hot plugging. Me too, in a fresh arch install, I got X running no keyboard no mouse.. couldn't exit X, needed to reboot. Installed hal and everything works.
