Seagate USB Hd won't display

Hi. Arch 64. Have installed ntfs-3g and my Seagate USB drive mounts to the desktop.
However it won't let me view much of the contents. Error message 'The folder contents could not be displayed....transport endpoint is not connected'     A permissions issue?

Do you have hal installed? Do you always safely unmount your hard disk in windows, if not you have to force mount the disk

Re: Seagate USB Hd won't display

ls -l
ls: cannot access /media/FreeAgent Drive: Transport endpoint is not connected
total 26
d?????????  ? ?     ?        ?                ? FreeAgent Drive
I don't use Windows but my Ubuntu pc works fine with this drive.
Yes hal is installed.
The drive shows up on my Gnome desktop in Arch- opens up, but refuses access to the folders.
Transport endpoint not connected is allways the message.
