X and a geforce 8600gt?

I can not get my nvidia card to work with X to save my life? I have tried all sugestions PLEASE DO NOT POINT ME TO THE WIKI! I have read all of them! I noticed that the nvidia pacake was upgrading the kernel as well. Could that be causeing the problem?

It would probably help if you posted what version of the driver you're using (which "nvidia" package you installed), along with your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log

The nvidia package doesn't "upgrade" the kernel, but it does require a kernel blob-wrapper module to be rebuilt if you're updating kernels for another purpose.

I just did the "nvidia" thats the name of the package just

# pacman -S nvidia

its for the more current g-cards and yes it does not upgrade it but it installs it as dependency(?) or something it will say "The following packages will be installed..." I will post the x-org conf thank very much for the quick response. Im just currious is anyone else have this problem too?
