Xsane and Photosmart C4280 I can print but don't scan

hey,
after some problems with hplip i'm finally able to print, but when i try to scan i get only this reply

scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/Photosmart_C4200_series?serial=MY79LMM3DT04VP failed: Device busy

scanimage -L shows the scanner

device `hpaio:/usb/Photosmart_C4200_series?serial=MY79LMM3DT04VP' is a Hewlett-Packard Photosmart_C4200_series all-in-one

"sane-find-scanner", too

found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [HP], product=0x5c11 [Photosmart C4200 series]) at libusb:005:002

i already tried

#If you want to use this driver with sane: #  echo "hpaio" >> /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

but it doesn't work, so what can i do, or what do you need know further?

And wasn't hpaio something deprecated?
