lxpanel - segfaults

Hi.

I am running lxde - version - community/lxpanel 0.3.99-2

I am seeing this occasionally in dmesg

lxpanel[10548]: segfault at 6 ip b790103b sp bfb5237c error 4 in libc-2.9.so[b788e000+140000]

Any ideas ?

cheers

Re: lxpanel - segfaults

I have the same problem on x86_64. Running lxpanel as root does not solve it.

Make a bug report on the LXDE bug tracker

Re: lxpanel - segfaults

I have had the menu stick and not work on the newer lxpanel too. I use the old/stable lxpanel cause it was going to be a problem on my livecd. wink

I'm working on a live cds based on Archlinux. http://godane.wordpress.com/

Re: lxpanel - segfaults

I was running a standard Gnome setup before I installed the LXDE group with openbox, gamin etc. lxpanel worked fine until I began removing all traces of gnome from my machine, now I get that "error 4 in libc-2.9.so" and also "bad drawable" if I try to run lxpanel at all. But I think the latter is related to missing icons and not necessarily related to the segfault.

Edit: I've now done a full reinstall of Arch using: lxde, openbox, slim, and nvidia for GUI stuff. No gnome. On the first start up I got a flashing lxpanel. Killed it, attempted to restart it in a terminal, I get the same segfault still.

Re: lxpanel - segfaults

I think I've got a temp. fix. It loads at least from the terminal now. I commented out the lines for the plugin netstat in /usr/share/lxpanel/profile/default/panels/panel

Re: lxpanel - segfaults

lxpanel segfaults with me even when netstat is commented out. It happens randomly after closing a window in a java application (cgoban).
