Hello there. I have a new setup with arch linux, bearly was able to installl virtually all my drivers. I downloaded a burning software tool to help me record some data to a disk, however when it asked me insert the CD, it notifyied me by saying that there are no drives to read a cd. My current setup with the Disk reading is that AUTOFS automounts the drives due to some earlier issue that I was facing during the installation of arch linux and the drivers. This not only happens with the burning software but aswell as other software that require the recognition of CD/DVD Drives. They list no drives. In addition, i have noticed an odd behaviour. When launching the "Computer" icon on my Desktop, of course the "file system" or HDD icon appears but no CD/DVD rom. This only happens when there aren't any CD/DVD mounted, however, when one is mounted it does displays it as well as in the Desktop. And the oddity is this: when I load nautilus as root ( I know it's dangerous using the root account, but bare with me ), it displays the CD/DVD Rom icon dispite the fact I don't have it mounted, as well as the USB icon, but that's another story,
I have given as many details as possible, hopefully someone can identify a solution to my issue.
Thanks in advance for any comments!
