Ext HDs: Cannot move file to trash, delete immediately?

Both my external hard drives give this message when I try to delete something, but my flash drive does not do this. Any ideas?
I want to be able to use a trash bin.

What file system are you using on the external drives? The flash drive most probably is using fat or fat32 and your external drives something else maybe.

Exteral drives are using ntfs.
Flash drive using fat32
I guess that explains why the flash drive can have a trash bin
