Problems with zd1211rw (udev firmware loader misses sysfs directory)

Hi, I seem to be unable to use my wifi usb card

# ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Connection timed out
#

I use packages:
kernel26 2.6.27.10-1
zd1211-firmware 1.4-2
udev 135-1

and accorging to lsusb my card is

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0ace:1211 ZyDAS 802.11b/g USB2 WiFi

dmesg says

What worked for me: Plugging the thing into a an USB 2.0. As I see in your message, you are unsing an 1.1 USB port, (usually the front USB ports).

Well, this PC only is old and only has USB1.1. I currently connect through ethernet, but I'd like to be able to use the wifi too.
