Question about the first 1024 sectors for Boot Part

I was wondering if Linux still had that limitation where the /boot had to be within the first 1024 sectors of the hard drive.

I have a Win2k3 partition using 20 gigs (From the start of the drive) and want to install linux on another chunk (30 gigs) and leave the rest of a 160 gig drive for data.

Thanks for the info..

No, and as far as I know that was(?) a bootloader limitation (Lilo). I use Grub. ;-)

If your machine has made within the last... hmmm... 5 or 6 years, then you'll be fine.
