Make and rt2860 driver are both broken after update

I  reinstalled arch on eee901 planning to use the default kernel. I downloaded the rt2860 package and did a make, make install. It worked and I was able to connect and do a pacman -Syu. When rebooted with 2.6.28, it didn't work. So I did a make uninstall and and reinstalled it. But I get make [linux] error 2 and two make  [linux] error 1's. I tried to do a bit of research and found the error might be due to the lack of gcc and base-devel. I hooked up my router via ethernet and reinstalled base-devel just to make sure. That didn't work either.

So then I downloaded the PKGBUILD from the AUR and I'm getting the same make errors.

I don't remember what the original message was, I think it was something about a module not working. What is wrong with make?

what about posting the exact output of the compilation? it's the first step.

They say that if you play a Win cd backward you hear satanic messages. That's nothing! 'cause if you play it forwards, it installs windows.

I reformatted and got it working again. I'm afraid to do a -Syu. Is there a way to save the state of my system before the update?

You could make a dd image of your system, but personally I've upgraded from 2.6.27 to 2.6.28 as well. I only had to rerun the 'makepkg' command and pacman -U the package again. After a reboot wireless worked again.

(Also on a EEE 901)
